A newly opened segment of the Atlanta Beltline’s Southside Trail is expected to improve movement around neighborhoods just west and north of East Atlanta Village. Axios Atlanta reported on April 13 that Beltline officials are marking completion of Segments 4 and 5, called the Southeast Trail, a 1.2-mile section running from Boulevard to Glenwood Avenue.
Axios reported that the opening completes the path from the Krog Street Tunnel to Boulevard and raises the total paved Beltline network to 14.8 miles. The outlet also noted that the new segment improves connectivity for Grant Park, Ormewood Park, Boulevard Heights, and Glenwood Park, while creating safer routes to nearby schools.
For EAV residents and visitors, the practical impact is easier car-free access to surrounding districts and more continuous trail connections for bike and foot traffic. As additional Southside Trail work continues, this opening could influence how people move between East Atlanta area destinations, local businesses, and major city trail corridors.
