In a follow-up to our prior coverage, the Kirkwood supportive senior housing rezoning request was approved by the Atlanta Zoning Review Board (ZRB) on April 30, according to Rough Draft Atlanta.

Rough Draft reports the 0.66-acre site at Howard and Hallman streets is owned by Turner Monumental AME and is currently zoned for a single-family home. The ZRB recommendation advances a change to planned development housing for a 47-unit proposal that has generated both support and neighborhood opposition.

The report says the request now moves to Atlanta City Council review, including a committee step before full council consideration. For East Atlanta Village readers, this is directly related to the same Kirkwood project covered in our earlier “returns to zoning board” story and marks the next procedural stage rather than a separate development item.

An Instagram reel from Housing Justice League posted April 30 also describes the vote outcome as a win at ZRB for the proposed supportive senior housing on Howard Street in Kirkwood, aligning with the Rough Draft update.
