Big Al’s Cigar Shop is targeting a late-September opening at 530 Flat Shoals Ave. SE, adding a cigar shop and lounge to the East Atlanta Village business district.
Co-owner John Hammond told What Now Atlanta that the business has leased a 2,500-square-foot space and plans to carry established cigar brands alongside smaller boutique selections. Hammond is opening the business with a partner known as Al, the shop’s namesake, who has worked at Atlanta-area cigar businesses for more than a decade.
What Is Planned?
The owners plan a large humidor, lounge seating, two garage doors and four or five televisions. They also expect jazz to be part of the atmosphere and say employees will help customers choose cigars by flavor profile.
The location is on Flat Shoals Avenue near the center of the Village, placing the new business among EAV’s restaurants, bars, music venues and independent shops.
